Red Sox Nation rejoices today as Big Papi gets a big extension. He wants to retire a Red Sox. Fortunately for him, he is far more important to the fortunes of the Red Sox than Bronson Arroyo was. Like Wakefield, Papi will (hopefully) retire a Red Sox. Hopefully, next he'll be the first DH to win the AL MVP. He should have had it last year.
In semi-related news….. Coco Crisp has a fractured finger. Apparently done while sliding into 3rd the other day (stop the headfirst slides!). His hometown debut will be delayed. But the Canadian Babe Ruth, Adam Stern, should be prowling centerfield. If he continues to hit as well as he did in the WBC, spring training, and his first start yesterday, we'll be in fine shape until Coco returns.
