I grew up in Nashua, NH and developed a great passion for Boston sports that is with me to this day. I have fond memories of Sox games in Fenway Park, and Celtics games in the Garden (including Game 7 of the 1984 Eastern Conference Finals against the Knicks).
I became a Christian in college after studying evolution. That probably isn’t what the instructor had in mind.
I moved to FL in ’91 to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. I received my MDiv and an MA in Counseling.
In the past I’ve worked as a bookkeeper, as a contract worker for Xerox Business Services, in a Rescue Mission and Ligonier Ministries. I am now a pastor.
I have a beautiful wife. We have a beautiful daughter and recently adopted a little boy from China who is full of life. After we moved from Florida to Arizona we adopted a girl and a boy from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We live in a house with our dog, a fish and 3 hamsters.
I enjoy team sports, movies, books (theology, history, fiction etc), music (including strumming on my guitar), hiking and writing.
Yes I would have to agree that Huck is pretty stupid…especially for peeing on our presents. Tell Amie “hi” for me
Well, the dog saw the tree and got as close as he could. What more can you ask for?
But that will be the LAST Huck story 🙂
Hey, dude,
I am NOT the dumbest dog in the world. I know for a fact that the White’s have a dog that might give me a run for my doggie toys.
You know I love you so much that I almost screw myself into the floor with excitement when you come home. Gosh, I even tolerate that cute little kid laying all over me. And you know what else? That really pretty lady that is always with you…..she really likes me, too. She gets so excited about all the shedding hair. It’s so cute!
I love everyone that you bring home, too. Of course, not everyone appreciates my kisses.
Don’t forget that even though you have smeared my good name, I am still your best friend.
Your pooch,
Huck
PS I had to have one of my human friends do this for me. I don’t get all this modern technology. I miss the good ole days when all I had to deal with was a doggie whistle.

That has to be an imposter. Huck doesn’t like to kiss. He likes to sneeze on people.
cavman,
I noticed my brand spankin’ new blog (Dangitbill!) on your list of visited websites. Just curious, how did you find me? BTW, I notice that you are interested in much of the same things I am. Except I root for the Dodgers instead of the Bosox. 🙂 Leave me a comment at Dangitbill. Thanks.
Ok. I have addressed you in a shortened form of your blog ID assuming it is some form of cave man. My ignorance. Please forgive me. What is the story behind the name so to speak? Why cavman?
I have been listening to your sermons. Very enthusiastic. I appreciate it. Where in FL are you pastoring?
Actually a nickname based on my last name. It is Cav-man. The first a is short, not long.
Currently pastoring in Winter Haven.
Hi Cavman,
Greetings from New Hampshire. Tell Amie hello for Chuck, me and the kids and hugs to your lil girl.
I like your blog and I am trying my hand at one…rookie that I am. I added your blog link to mine.
Been enjoying your blog as a lurker for some time now. I’m giving it my June “Off the Path” award over at my blog. Best wishes and blessings! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the encouragement!
Do you have an email address?
why? I’ve spent enough time on this issue. My understanding of biblical theology won’t undergo that radical a shift.
I didn’t want your email to debate.
Just wanted to send you the url to a website created in memory of David Abrami by some of his friends. We found your blog and put a link on the site to your postings about Dave. Please pass it on to any other friends of his you’re still in touch with. http://www.davidjabrami.com
You adopted a boy from China? I’d love you to tell me about him. My avatar is my beautiful China doll (funny face here) who came home with us 4.5 years ago. I think you’ve been to my blog and can see her there, too (I’ve a better picture under the post on Cordoroy).
Sorry to brag, but I also have two gorgeous SMART girl dogs (also de-sexed). They are featured on my blog as well… maybe Huck would like a look??
CavWife’s travels to pick up CavSon begin 1/17/08.
In short, he’s mostly happy. He can be whiny at times (not sure if that is his personality, or developed in the orphanage). He can be a bit stubborn, at all the wrong moments. He loves to follow his big sister around on his little fire truck ride on toy (and she on her trike). He could play with dinner for hours if we allowed him to. 🙂
Read your statement about your dog “huck”. Needs to be revised to read—Dumbest LIVING dog.
PS Wonderful family!
Your blog is truly an encouragement and an aspiration to many. I have added you to my blogroll, and if you would like to add me to yours I would be most honored.
Sincerely, Dee
Cavman,
I’m interested in hearing more about how you became a Christian in college! How did evolution do that?
Greg
Greg,
I’ll try to put that in an upcoming post. Check back in a few days.
okay….. here it is.
Hi Cavman!
Please send me an e-mail address as I need your help with our pastor search. D Wayne said I should contact you. Thanks!

Thanks for your links to my CCEF liveblogs and summaries, Pastor Cavman! I am so happy that the replays are being used–I pray that they are a blessing to the Body.
I’m looking forward to poking around your site–

Thanks for the review of “The Naked Gospel”. Being the lazy sort that I am, I’ve been compiling positive and negative reviews before leaping into the fray of the book itself. I know: backwards. But I like to have my biases and presuppositional opposition keenly tuned before spending my time and effort in hating something. 🙂 BTW, Huck was not “robbed” of his manhood. He’s been vandalized. Doubtless he was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
Do you know my friend, Tim Lambros, pastor of the Sovereign Grace Church in Tucson? If so, say hi!
Bill Farley
Bill,
No, I don’t know Tim, yet. I’ve been meaning to call over and get to know him since I’m new in town. That congregation is only about 10 minutes from this one.
Steve,
I just found a link to your blog and have to say I am impressed with the conversations going on here!
I was suprised to hear you guys are in AZ and planning your second adoption–congratulations! Becky and I mand our move cross country about a year ago.
We are in Portland now and realized pretty quickly after our move that it was a challenge to locate solid Christian counselor, psychologist, and psyciatrist refferals in a new town. All that to say we have decided to launch a new online directory called The Christian Counseling Resource Directory.
Are you seeing clients along with your pastoral duties? I would love for you to list yourself and any groups that are offered through your church. Also, I would really appreciate it if you could help us get the word out to Christian care-givers in the Tuscon area (and anyone you might know back in Winter Haven). We really want this to be a comprehensive listing of Christian counselors as well as support groups, therapy groups, seminars, etc. There is also a place to post articles–we’d love to have you add the library.
Congrats again on the growing family. I am not a coffee drinker but I will pass the word on to friends out here about your store.
Brad
Hey Cavman!
Glad to hear you’re a Presbyterian in Tucson. I’m now a Lutheran in law school (still in Urbana, IL).
Blessings,
Mike
Oh, those Boar’s Head Tavern guys sucked you in, huh? Gone from gospel to law, it is supposed to be the other way around!
Glad to hear from you. Been too long.
Although I have been almost Lutheran for a long time, I do have to give some of the BHT guys credit for pulling me across the finish line.
But that’s not why I left the pastorate and went to law school. I’ll email you.
cavman,
What ever happened with our dear brother, David Wayne (aka jollyblogger)? Is he still battling cancer, or has he gone home to be with the Lord? I am just curious, I followed him for quite awhile (since 2006), and I had cancer around the same time he was diagnosed. Thanks.
He is still fighting. He isn’t on line much since the treatments really wipe him out. I believe he is still preaching when he can.
cavman, I saw your link on the Calvinism Fellowship/Debate FB page. Great to connect. I was a PCA TE for 7 years (92-99) before going back into other vocations, now being a director of a non-profit doing orphan care ministry in Haiti and a RE in my local congregation. I like your article on the covenant you linked to. Where in AZ are you?
Les Prouty
I live in Tucson. I hope the orphan care ministry is going well since there are so many there.
Thanks. It is going pretty well. What PCA church? I’m at Twin Oaks PCA in Ballwin, MO
Desert Springs. The oldest in town. By God’s mercy we are growing again. Exciting stuff.

not sure if you will get this.
Rick is my name; and I am (was?) a big fan of Farley’s books.
Going through a study on Romans now, with his videos in the background..I am concerned I was off base on bringing this forward, and would like to exchange some email with you offline?
I want to be faithful, and not lead to errors, but I am wary of the legalism aspects of a heavy handed Christianity, and am simply looking for answers ??
Rick,
I am happy to communicate, time permitting. I am not familiar with his study on Romans. It may be profitable to discuss it with Farley.
